Daphne, aka Miss Enthusiam, and Ajax
One day in New Mexico I got a call from some nice neighbors asking if I was missing any dogs.
I said, "No", then felt myself wanting to groan, then asked "Why?"
"Well, there are these 2 white dogs that have been under the boards stacked up behind our print shop for a couple of days. It looks like a mama dog and an older pup... they are nice dogs, I wish I could afford to feed them..."
"Ok, I'll come get them. Aaaagh!"
They were both starved with ribs showing. Daphne was desperate for affection, and had gotten so weak that she hadn't been able to fight off even flies, and had maggots under her skin. Ajax had some sort of nasty oozing burns on his rear end, possibly from cigarettes. And both were very unsocialized.
The vet said they are cattle dogs. Daphne seems to be part English Bull Terrier with those funny back bowed legs, upright ears, and a slight bow in her nose. She is very vivacious and vocal, and an extremely talented climber and balancing artist. She goes at everything with enthusiasm, hence her moniker, Miss Enthusiasm.
