Gwyneth wandered into my feral cat trap one morning in New Mexico. She had apparently been living in some abandoned buildings in the area, and was very hungry. She was very frightened and so grateful to have a caring human again that I couldn't get her out of my lap to take care of anyone else! As soon as I'd put her down, she'd jump back into my lap, purring and rubbing against my face. How can you not lose your heart to that? She settled in to the established household in a few months, and still comes to sit with me and tell me how happy she is.
